Cops: Homeless Man Arrested for Breach of Peace

Herbert Ceballos was previously arrested in January.

A homeless man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly walked into Fairfield Cab Company, intoxicated, and caused a public disturbance, police said.

Herbert Ceballos, 54, who was arrested for criminal trespass at the same company in January, was charged with second-degree breach of peace this time around, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

Ceballos reportedly called the employee at the front desk a racial slur and threatened basically to beat him up, according to the police report. Ceballos was asked to leave and wouldn’t, Lussier said. He told police that he was on public property and he could be there if he wanted to.

Ceballos had been warned by police earlier after he called 911 to ask for food, according to the report.

Ceballos was transported to police headquarters, where he signed his misdemeanor summons to appear in court as “Julio Santiago Rodriguez,” the name he sometimes gives to police, Lussier said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 27.
