Fairfield Lawyer Allegedly Embezzled $200K+ from 85-Year-Old Aunt

Rik Bachman, 57, of Fairfield was reportedly arrested via warrant Tuesday and charged with first degree larceny for allegedly stealing more than $200K from his late aunt, Beatrice Bachman, over a three year period beginning in 2009.

Following last week’s report about a Trumbull man who is trying to evict his 98-year-old mother out of her Fairfield home, this week we learn about the arrest of a Fairfield lawyer who allegedly embezzled more than $200,000 from the accounts of his 85-year-old aunt in Trumbull while keeping her secluded from family members.

According to Trumbull police, Rik Bachman, 57, of Woodbine Lane was arrested via warrant Tuesday and charged with first degree larceny for allegedly stealing the money from his late aunt, Beatrice Bachman, over a three year period beginning in 2009.

According to a report in the CT Post, Bachman, who has a law practice in White Plains NY, moved his aunt from her apartment in New York City to an assisted living facility in Trumbull, but kept her whereabouts secret from other family members while raiding her bank accounts for his personal use. Beatrice Bachman died in June 2011, according to the report.

Bachman was released after posting $20,000 bond and was to be arraigned in state Superior Court today, police said.

According to Bachman’s website he is a former New York prosecutor and previously worked for former New York Congressman Jack Kemp.

Bachman’s lawyer, Carmine Perri, told the CT Post that her client “has committed no crime.”
