Greg Harney records 40 saves as Green Knights snap Jesuits' eight-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory

The Fairfield Prep hockey team ran into a hot goaltender Saturday afternoon.

Greg Harney recorded 40 saves as Notre Dame of West Haven cooled off the Jesuits with a 3-2 victory at the Wonderland of Ice.

Brandon Martone scored a pair of power-play goals 33 seconds apart in the first period for the Green Knights (11-5), who snapped the Jesuits' eight-game winning streak.

Fairfield Prep (14-3) pulled within 2-1 on the first of two goals by Don Carnicky early in the second period. 

However,  Colby Cretella restored Notre Dame's two-goal lead later in the second.

Carnicky pulled Fairfield Prep within 3-2 in the third, but the Jesuits couldn't otherwise beat Harney, who made 16 saves over the final 15 minutes.

John Galiani stopped 19 shots for Fairfield Prep.
