Officials Investigate Car Fire on Brookfield Ave

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, police said.

Fairfield police and fire officials are investigating a car fire that erupted early Tuesday at the intersection of Brookfield Ave and Pickwick Street.

A woman found on scene was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center for evaluation. There were no injuries reported and police are still trying to determine whether the woman was the vehicle's passenger or driver, department spokesperson Sgt Sue Lussier said.

Officials determined the blaze began in the engine compartment, which was in flames when first responders arrived. The car was still running and the keys were still in the ignition, Lussier said.
