Weekly Round Up of Fairfield Wildcats Youth Football League

7th Grade Wildcats Finish Strong with Decisive 19-0 Win Over New Canaan

Jack Curtis put the Wildcats on the board early with an impressive 28-yard touchdown run for 6 points Sunday afternoon. Timmy Jacobi took the Wildcats lead to 12-0 with a strong 17-yard carry.  Joey Turner capped the TD run with an extra point to make it 13-0.  Justin Keith closed the first half for the Wildcats in exciting fashion with a pick 6, extending the lead to 19-0.  New Canaan was deep in Wildcats' territory in the final minutes of the first half when Jack Hogarth intercepted, foiling New Canaan's drive.

Although there was no additional scoring in the second half, the Wildcats showed strong offensive playing led by Matt Coda and Kris Gjinaj, as well as a fumble recovery by Zach Taylor and a second interception by Hogarth.  The shutout was led by strong defensive performances by Clay Zachery, Josh Evans and Alexey Linsenmeyer.  The 7th grade Wildcats enter the playoffs with a stellar 7-1 record.

5th Graders Lose Finale at New Canaan

The 5th grade Wildcats lost their final regular season game 33-13 in New Canaan Saturday evening.  Despite the score, the team moved the ball well all night with Ben Pulsifer scoring both touchdowns on end around sprints of 30 and 40 yards respectively.  Running backs Ryan Janz and Griffin Gallati ran tough up the middle all game, both finishing with over 50 yards rushing.  Deaglan O'Donnell and Liam Hawley made some big tackles on the defensive side of the ball. 

4th Grade Wildcats Take Down Norwalk

The Wildcats 4th grade team finished up the regular season with a 21-6 victory over Norwalk Green.  The Wildcat’s defense set the tone early when Jack McKenna forced a fumble and recovered, which set up Andrew Conklin’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Jack Morison.  Dylan Igram caught a 5-yard pass for the 2-point conversion.  A 4-yard run by Aidan Casey in the 2nd quarter set up a QB sneak by Conklin to make it 14-0.  Jack Gremse capped off the scoring for Fairfield with two strong runs for a total of 40 yards and a touchdown with Lorenzo Cooper running in the extra point.  Kyle Dutter and Will Smalley anchored the line and Thomas Walewski had a nice pass reception as well.  The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 5-3 record and will play their first playoff game this weekend.

3rd Grade Wildcats Defeat Ridgefield

The Wildcats opened up early against Ridgefield with a touchdown by Harrison Keith.  As the Wildcats took a 6-0 lead Ridgefield answered quickly to close the gap 7-6.  Key blocking from Brayden Mazzoni, Tyler Lampley and Thomas Schindler allowed Paul Sussman to get open for the second score.  Ridgefield fired back but could not convert, making the score 13-12.  Defense was lead by Andre Mead who secured his first interception to close out the half Wildcats18, Ridgefield 13.

Justin Feldman, Denholm Feldman and Kieran Heske proved to be key players this week, making crucial tackles to open up the second half.  Ridgefield fired back with two more quick scores.  Harrison Keith lifted the Wildcats over Ridgefield scoring two more times and closing out the game.
