Fairfield School of Music teaches music to a new beat
Shows community that a new sound is in town
Fairfield, CT – October 25, 2012 – A new school in town, Fairfield School of Music, offers the community a revolutionary, playing-based approach to learning to play piano. Four of the school's teachers have completed an extensive training process to become licensed Simply Music teachers.
Co-Director, Tracy Carlucci, is herself a certified Simply Music teacher and has been teaching the method for over a year. She says, "I had taught piano traditionally for over a decade, and I always found something to be lacking with the traditional methodology. Most piano students can’t just sit down and play for fun, especially without being tied to the written page, even after years of lessons. When I discovered Simply Music, I was so happy to find a comprehensive and holistic program that teaches students to play music naturally, the same way we as humans learn language – by learning to speak before we learn to read and write.”
Simply Music teaches students to “speak” music first, by immersing them in playing real music, right from their very first lessons. Students develop a large repertoire of songs in all styles including Classical, Jazz & Blues, Pop & Contemporary, and Accompaniment, in addition to composing, improvising, learning variations & arrangements, and reading music.
"We are delighted to have Fairfield School of Music on board and thrilled that they are contributing to the musical growth of Fairfield. Their staff's enthusiasm shines through in their lessons, and I am excited about their students creating a new relationship to music." - Neil Moore, Founder & Executive Director of Simply Music.
About the School
Fairfield School of Music opened in September of 2012 and currently has over 100 students enrolled in private or group lessons. Nearly half of the students are learning piano by the Simply Music method. The school offers instruction in all instruments, including guitar & bass, drums, strings, brass, and woodwinds, in addition to traditional piano lessons for those with years of prior experience.
For infants through age 5, the school also offers Simply Music Rhapsody, a fresh perspective on early childhood music that develops creativity and musicality in a fun, age-appropriate setting. This program develops the skills needed for future musical study and has been designed to seamlessly transition into the Simply Music piano method.
