The Watermark at 3030 Park Hosts AARP Driver Safety Course

On Wednesday, November 28, The Watermark at 3030 Park will host an AARP driver safety course designed to help people over the age of 50 navigate the roads more comfortably. The class will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the retirement community located at 3030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, this course will be offered free of charge to all veterans and their family members. The cost is $12 for AARP members, and $14 for non-members.

The course will address driving rules including new laws, how to handle left turns and blind spots properly, and best practices for highway driving. It will also present defensive driving techniques and how to properly operate a motor vehicle around tractor-trailers.

The course will also discuss how age-related changes to vision and hearing can affect driving skills by slowing down reaction time. Instructors will address these issues and go over ways to help people safely adapt to those changes on the road.

“As people age, it is important for them to be reminded of safe driving skills that can be put into practice,” said Marlane Argianas, Resident Services Coordinator at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “This course will provide residents and guests with a higher level of confidence the next time they get behind the wheel.”

Upon successful completion of the course, attendees may qualify for a discount on their auto insurance. The class does not include a road test and will be held entirely indoors.

This class is open to the public and requires registration. For more information, or to reserve a space, please contact The Watermark at 3030 Park at 203-373-6288.
