Enjoy Fairfield Sidewalk Sales: Saturday, July 27, 2013 10:00am-4:00pm, Rain or Shine--Shopping, Food, Music and More!

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce are pleased to co-sponsor the 2013 Fairfield Sidewalk Sales Event which will be held, rain or shine, in Fairfield Center on Saturday, July 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   Select merchants will offer a preview of sale merchandise on Friday, July 26th.  

More than fifty Fairfield businesses are expected to participate in this year’s event, setting up stands and offering a variety of merchandise for sale along the Post Road from the Heritage Square Shopping Center to the Promenade at the Brick Walk.   Admission is free. 

Sherman Green will feature activities for children and families, where a climbing tower, a slap shot hockey contest and dunk tank sponsored by Letarte Swimwear and the Ludlowe Girls Swim Team are all planned.  Activities will also include a visit by “BB”, the Bluefish Mascot, and “McGruff”, the Crime Dog as well as face painting by “Put on a Happy Face”.

This year’s event will feature live musical entertainment at multiple venues scattered throughout the downtown.  Musicians will be playing from 11 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm at venues set up at the Brick Walk, at Sherman Green, in front of the Community Theater, near the Fairfield University Bookstore and on Donnelly’s Walk.  

First Selectman Tetreau said, “This year promises to be better than ever with live musical entertainment at various venues within the downtown, special menu offerings at our many fine participating restaurants, and activities for children and families. I encourage people of all ages to come to our downtown and experience our array of quality businesses.”

Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said, “This is great opportunity to support our local businesses, and have some fun and score some terrific deals while doing so.”

“The Town is also using state-of-the-art technology to help promote this great community event.  BizzBuzzTV, one of the sponsors of the Sidewalk Sale will be featuring a Smart Phone App that shoppers can download for FREE which will allow them to watch short videos from participating merchants talking about the great deals and specials that they are offering for the sale,” Barnhart added.

Balaz, Executive Director of the Chamber said, “The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is delighted to continue its support of ‘Shop Local’ by participating with the town in this exciting, and expanded, community event!   We are all looking forward to the 27th and want to thank the sponsors for their generosity and commitment to help support our wonderful Fairfield merchants and businesses.”
