Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport to Celebrate 200th Graduate at Annual Recognition Reception

Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. (MLC) will celebrate its 200th graduate at its annual Recognition Reception on Tuesday, June 3rd at Housatonic Community College.

Over the last 27 years, Mercy Learning Center has educated over 9,000 low income women and children through its adult education and early childhood education programs.  The nonprofit, non-denominational organization offers two paths to earning a high school diploma—General Education Diploma (GED®) preparation and the National External Diploma Program (NEDP®).

Forty-three MLC students will receive their high school diplomas at the Recognition Reception, including Jamile Ghiraldi de Lima.  Ms. Ghiraldi de Lima, MLC’s 200th graduate, earned her diploma through the NEDP® after receiving tutoring through MLC’s Literacy and Life Skills Tutoring Program.  She is representative of MLC’s student population in having overcome language, cultural and personal barriers to earn her diploma.
