HCC PRESIDENT WINS AWARD

HCC President Wins Award       BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki has been honored by two civic groups for her contributions to education.
At a recent ceremony, she was presented with the Elizabeth M. Pfriem Civic Award, by the Bridgeport Public Education Fund and the Fairfield County Community Foundation. The award is presented annually to a person or organization whose work in the Bridgeport community promotes equity and academic achievement for local students.
“(she) is a true advocate for education at all level,” the groups said in making the announcement. “Her leadership had produced cutting-edge opportunities for all segments of the community.”
“From credit-bearing courses for Bridgeport High School students to a new manufacturing certificate program which sends graduates directly into the workforce, HCC is always the first to step up and offer innovative programs for its students,” the groups said. “She has taken on leadership roles with the Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance, the Bridgeport Rotary, as well as the Bridgeport Public Education Fund.”
Gliniecki was delighted to receive the award. ‘We at Housatonic are committed to providing our students with  the education they need to build better lives for themselves and their families, while helping area high school students with the transition to college,” she said. “We see this award as a validation of our efforts to achieve these goals.”
