Convertibles Needed for Fairfield Memorial Day Parade

Do you own a convertible? Contact Ron Drew to get it into the 2013 parade!

Fairfield's Memorial Day Parade committee seeks participants to volunteer their convertibles for the parade.

The convertibles allow older veterans who cannont walk the opportunity to ride the parade route, according to Ron Drew, the committee member in charge of cars, trophies, and street signs for the parade.

Those interested should contact Drew via email at ron.drew@hotmail.com. Please put "Memorial Day Parade" in the subject line of the email.

Participants will meet behind St. Anthony of Padua Church on South Pink Creek Road at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27. Cars line up at 9:45 a.m. then they're off for the 10 a.m. parade start. Normally,  the division the convertibles are in ends in front of the grand stand around noon, Drew said.
 
The committee expects a larger turnout than usual because other towns have cancelled their parades due to budegt cutbacks, according to Drew.
