Cornell Road Bridge to Remain Closed Until at Least April

Remaining construction cannot be completed until the weather warms up, according to information from the First Selectman's Office.

Ninety percent of the work is completed, but Cornell Road Bridge will remain closed until at least April.

Three of the four remaining tasks cannot be done until the weather warms up, according to information from the First Selectman's Office.

Work on the bridge -- located near Fairfield Warde High School -- is anticipated to resume in March, and April according to the release. The goal is to reopen the bridge in late April or early May.

The bridge membrane, stone facing/cap, guiderail connection, and final pavement remain to be completed, according to the First Selectman's Office.

The Cornell Road Bridge closed for construction in early October 2012. The work was initially expected to be completed by December 2012 or January 2013.
