Connecticut Open House Day

Saturday, June 9     12pm – 4pm

The Fairfield Museum is participating in Open House Day -- a statewide celebration of Connecticut’s fascinating world of art, history and tourism. The Fairfield Museum and History Center and The Ogden House will offer free admission and a variety of activities for all ages.

On view at the Fairfield Museum is the exhibit IMAGES 2012, featuring the work of Charles Ruger and the 4th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition. Also on view, Fairfield History, featuring highlights of this region’s development from 1639 to the 20th century through distinctive and exceptional objects from the museum’s permanent collections. The Daughters of the American Revolution will have the Fairfield Academy open from 12-2pm. The Academy is located near the Town Hall.

At the 1750 Ogden House, enjoy docent-led tours of the historic house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Learn how people lived in the 18th century through artifacts and period objects including antique furniture, toys, ceramic pieces and textiles handed down by generations of families from Fairfield County. Take a stroll through the kitchen garden, generously maintained by the Fairfield Garden Club, and view herbs and plants that were used in colonial times.
