Fairfield I-95 Service Plaza Closed for Major Renovations

Fairfield’s I-95 service plaza closed for renovations this week, and will remain shuttered for about one year, as the frequently used rest stop gets a major facelift. 

The plaza, located on the southbound side of I-95, closed Monday and will remain closed until Fall 2014, according to a release from Project Service LLC, a company with a 35-year contract with the state to renovate and operate its service plazas.

When it reopens, the new look plaza with feature Subway, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Alltown Convenience Store and Statement Gift Shop, according to the release.

11 of 23 Connecticut highway service plazas have already undergone renovations, with Branford’s I-95 Northbound plaza set to reopen Wednesday.

The Fairfield plaza, and all other state plazas, will have a series of “green” features including water efficient rest rooms, energy efficient insulation and lighting, and state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning units, according to the release.
