Fairfield Woman is 'Lucky for Life'

"I went crazy — jumping, screaming, crying and laughing that I had won $25,000 a year for life," says Stephanie Campbell.

The following is a press release from Connecticut Lottery:

On the night of Oct. 31, Stephanie Campbell, 53, of Fairfield, wasn't wearing a Halloween costume, but she certainly received one of the tastiest treats of all—she won the “Lucky for Life®” lottery drawing game’s 2nd prize worth $25,000 a year, every year for the rest of her life!

Campbell’s Lucky for Life ticket missed matching the Lucky Ball number, which was 16, but matched the other five winning numbers drawn, 2 - 21 - 26 - 30 - 39.  Across New England, 42,212 Lucky winning tickets were purchased for October 31.  More than 14,500 of them were sold in Connecticut alone.

At first glance, Campbell thought she had matched four Lucky numbers for a $150 prize win, but after looking at her ticket more closely, she saw that she had matched the fifth number, as well.  “I went crazy—jumping, screaming, crying and laughing that I had won $25,000 a year for life,” Campbell told Lottery officials with a mirthful laugh.

Lucky for Life is a unique lottery game because its “For Life” prize value is based on the longevity of the winner.  The minimum guaranteed amount a 2nd prize winner will receive is $500,000 ($25,000 a year for 20 years), but winners who live longer than that will receive prize payments for the remainder of their natural life.  Lucky for Life’s top prize is worth a life-altering $1,000 a day, every day for life.

Friday, Campbell arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim the first of many $25,000 annual prize checks for the rest of her life.  “This will provide a little bit of security for the family,” Campbell said.  “I have one child in college, and another that soon will be, so this [prize] will help with that, too.”

For selling Campbell her “lifetime” prize winning ticket, Cumberland Farms located at 1101 Boston Post Road in Fairfield, will receive a $2,500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.

Lucky for Life’s October 31st drawing marks the 9th time a ‘$25,000 a year for life’ 2nd prize has been won in New England since the new game began September 19.  It is the third Lucky 2nd prize win for Connecticut.
