Five Things: Boomers' Night Out

Check out 'Five Things to Know' each weekday morning to help plan your day.

Here are five things to know for Wednesday, May 8.

1. The weather. It seems our stretch of beautiful, warm, sunny weather will be interrupted by possible rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday.

2. Mill rate. The Board of Finance will officially set the mill rate for Fiscal Year 2014. The RTM reduced the proposed budget Monday to bring the tax hike down to 2.4 percent. The finance board meeting is at 7:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room of Sullivan Independence Hall.

3. Flower and Garden Sale. The North Stratfield Elementary School Flower and Garden Sale begins Wednesday. It runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. For more information: http://fairfield.patch.com/groups/events/p/north-stratfield-elementary-school-flower-and-garden-sale

5. Boomers' Night Out: The Fairfield Senior Center is hosting this night out -- the first of three -- from 6 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday. There will be refreshments, movies, yoga, lectures, and dancing.
