Get Out: What's to do in Fairfield this weekend
The weekend is nearly upon us. Things are kind of quiet around Fairfield as vacation week comes to a close, but here's a teaser for you: breakfast bowling. Do I have your attention now?
Breakfast Bowling
When: Sunday, Feb, 27, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Why go: Who doesn’t wake up on a Sunday morning and wish they could go bowling? Now you can—and have breakfast at the same time! Nutmeg Bowl (802 Villa Ave. 203-367-7741) presents Breakfast ‘N Bowl, which includes 3 games of bowling, 2 eggs, potatoes, toast, and coffee, tea, milk or chocolate milk. (Meat is extra, friends. But with a bargain like this, you can splurge on bacon.)

Hi-Def Opera
When: Saturday, Feb. 26, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Why go: How do you pronounce Iphigenie en Tauride, Gluck? I have no idea, but if you’re into opera, this high definition, big screen performance from the Metropolitan Opera will be held at the Quick Kelley Theater in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Fairfield University's campus.
Pricing: $22; $20 seniors; $15 children/students.
Free Concert at SHU
When: Sunday, Feb. 27, 3 p.m.
Why go: The second annual Elements Concert at Sacred Heart University’s Edgerton Center (5151 Park Ave.) The show includes performances from the band, choir and theatre programs in the round.
Pricing: Free
Farmers' Market in Historic Grange
When: Saturday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why go: Are you going to an Oscar party on Sunday? Stock up on fancy local cheeses, breads and maybe even a pie at the Fairfield Indoor Winter Farmers’ Market at the Greenfield Hill Grange (1873 Hillside Rd.)
Pricing: Free, but don’t forget your bags!
Get in Shape for Spring
When: Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Why go: Spring is just around the corner (not really, but let's pretend), which means T-shirt season. It’s time to start working on those arm muscles. Try something new and do some rock climbing at Carabiner’s (85 Mill Plain Rd. 203-416-5500.)
Pricing: Day pass, adults: $18; students, $14; child, 10 and under, $10.
