Grab & Go Kids Planner: Fun at the Beach for a Good Cause

Here are five great family-friendly activities in and around Fairfield this weekend

Where/When: Splash Car Wash, 1400 Kings Highway Cutoff, Fairfield

May 11-13, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Kill two birds with one stone! Come see Kung Fu Panda and get free refreshments, and a great car wash. All customers who visit Splash Hand Wash of Fairfield during the week-long will automatically receive discounted wash coupons and a chance to win free services and prizes through slot machine and prize wheel giveaways.

Why Go: Enjoy a of fun and family with a three-mile walk through the streets of Fairfield. Cheer on Make-A-Wish kids as they ride in a police car or fire truck in the Hero Parade, then head over to a beach party with lunch, music, kids entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Where/When: Compo Beach, 64 Compo Beach Road, Westport

May 14, 12 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Homes with Hope is sponsoring the  sandcastle build-a-thon at Compo Beach. Celebrate an afternoon of family, fun, friends and community while raising funds to support the homeless and other neighbors in need.

Rain date is Sunday, May 15.

Pricing: Big Lots (10’ X 10’) are $100 and can accommodate up to four sand sculptors. Really Big Lots (20’ X 20’) are $300. To reserve your sand-sculpting lot or for sponsorship opportunities, call Kirsten Allen at 203-226-3426, ext. 10. Compo Beach parking fees for attendees are waived for the day of the event.

 

Where/When: Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Ave., Bridgeport

May 14, 12 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: The Beardsley Zoo will hold its annual Pet Awareness and Adoption Day with presentations on pet care and safety, crafts for the kids and other surprises. Pets will be available for adoption. Participating animal organizations include: Bridgeport and Stratford Animal Control; North Shore Animal League; Bully Breed Rescue; Best Friends Pet Care; Pups Without Partners (Greyhound Rescue); Pet Therapy Dogs; Trumbull Animal Group; Guiding Eyes for the Blind; and many more.

Pricing: Adults admission, $12; children (ages 3 -11), $10; seniors (62 & older), $10. Children under 3 are free.

 

Where/When: The SportsCenter of Connecticut, 784 River Road, Shelton

May 14, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Head out to the 2nd Annual Family Fundraiser at the SportsCenter of Connecticut and enjoy unlimited access to the driving range, mini-golf, Fun Bowl, batting cages, an arcade and Lazer Tag. Danny Magic will be on hand for his usual laugh-out-loud performance. Food and drinks will be served.
