No Reserving Spots on Old Post Road for Memorial Day Parade

Fairfield is prepping for its annual Memorial Day parade Monday -- and that means the police department is, too.

Fairfield police have established a temporary police order to discourage people from reserving spots along the parade route days in advance.

The practice has been in place for the past three years for the parade, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. Old Post Road property owners reported that people would leave chairs, blankets, and other items to save spots.

"This is no longer allowed and the Department of Public Works will throw any items out if left in advance of the parade," Lussier said.

The Memorial Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Monday.
