Resurfacing Project on Route 59 Starts Tuesday

Route 59 in Fairfield includes Stratfield Road and Brooklawn Avenue.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) is performing a resurfacing project along Route 59 (Stratfield Road and Brooklawn Avenue) from Cornell Road in Fairfield to Route 1 (North Avenue) in Bridgeport starting Tuesday, Sept. 3. 

This state project is expected to continue through Friday, Sept. 13, 2013.  The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This project, which runs 0.81 miles, is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2013 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

The tentative start date for milling in both Fairfield and Bridgeport will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, ending on Friday, Sept. 6. The tentative start date for paving in Fairfield will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, ending on Friday, Sept. 13.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 59. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.   Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
