Who has the best pizza in Fairfield?

This is the debut of a new column on Fairfield Patch called “Rivals.” We’ll ask our readers to visit our “Places” section and write their thoughts on which vendor they like best.

There’s no need to be a professional critic; just let us know your thoughts on what you like (or don’t like) about our contenders.

Here is how to play:

1 Create a free Patch login if you don't already have one.

2. Visit the pages in our Places directory. This week's entries: , , and (just click on the links provided).

Write a review at the bottom of the page where prompted. What makes it your favorite? Sauce vs. cheese ratio? Toppings choices? The service?

Thanks for playing!

I think what we'll do is run a few more best pizza editions, and take the top winners from each and then do a supreme best pizza in Fairfield contest, so don't worry if your favorite isn't a part of this round. Also, don't forget to leave reviews on the business's listing! See links above.

Best fresh garlic pazza is made by Captain's Pizza on Stanford St.

Luigi's on 170 post road has the BEST pizza!!! Every topping is prepared fresh and the new buffalo chicken pizza is amazing. Doesn't get any better than Luigi's! I'll leave a review on fbook too.

Captains and Mama Minas

I like Captain's too. I think Pepe's is interesting, but overrated. I see all these raves about Luigi's, but I've never been there so can't say one way or the other. Maybe I'll get them a try.

In my (so far) 5 months in the Fairfield area, I've had Pizzeria MOLTO & Luigi's. Both very good, I prefer Luigi's. Now I know about 4 other places to try after reading these comments. But back to the task at hand -- there will be more editions of RIVALS: PIZZA and they'll end in a final champion round. For now, please leave reviews on either Pizzeria MOLTO's, Luigi's, or Pepe's "Places" listing -- depending on your favorite from this week's contenders.

Luigis is the best

0mg luigies it would mean so much

Garelick & Herb is probably the best of the under-rated pizza in the area. In a pinch, SBC isnt bad either. I miss Arcudi's.

Nauti Dolphin Buffalo Chicken is the absolute best, followed by Luigi's Pepperoni

My dad's homemade. But I guess we cannot count that right?

Pepe's. Pepe's. Pepe's. Need I say more? Their white clam and bacon pie is outta this world!
tonypct February 08, 2012 at 05:03 PM
Nauti Dolphin for regular and Pizza Mediterranean for Sicilian.
tonypct February 08, 2012 at 05:04 PM
Marilyn, I'd vote for your dad's. Even though I've never tasted it, anything homemade is always better! ;-)

LUIGI'S PIZZA!!!!!! Been around for 30 YEARS for a reason!!! Been going there since I was a kid. Best toppings, fresh homemade dough and a lovely staff. Recommend to all!

Nauti Dolphin has it all
Pizzaguru February 14, 2012 at 03:06 PM
Colony, Luigis, Pepes and Nauti. In that order.
debbie s napoli February 16, 2012 at 03:16 PM
Pepes all the way...Its the best! If you dont believe me just drive by all of these restaurants and Pepes will always have the longest line!! White clam, grated cheese, or just plain mozzarella!!!
Jan E. Caluzzi February 19, 2012 at 01:21 AM
I'm from NY and moved to Fairfield recently. Have to say that Luigi's is the best followed by Colony, but two totally different styles Pepes is way to expensive and not as good as the new haven branch at all. I think Luigi's does the best takeout pizza, too. But they have great dinners as well..as well as a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff that have been there for 30 years!
cindy March 01, 2012 at 02:46 PM
luigi's by far has the best food... what they have been there for like 40 years...nothing say's more then that...
Jill July 13, 2012 at 06:28 PM
Nauti Dolphin is weirdly good; however, the man who serves the pizza there is always winking at me, like I am some of past lover of his.
