Cathleen Schine to speak at Pequot Library on "The Three Weissmans of Westport."

Pequot Library presents Cathleen Schine, author of The Three Weissmanns of Westport

Cathleen Schine, the author of a number of internationally best-selling novels, will start off the 2012 season of Pequot Library’s “Meet The Author Series,” on Sunday, January 8 at 4:00 p.m. She will be speaking about her most recent novel, The Three Weissmanns of Westport (2010)

Schine grew up in Westport, CT and lives in New York City and Venice, California. Her novel is set in Westport and is the story of a recently divorced mother who moves into her cousin’s house  with her two daughters.   The New Yorker magazine praised Schine’s wit, “which playfully probes the lies, self-deceptions, and honorable hearts of her characters.”

Schine’s other novels include The Love Letter (1995), which was made into a movie starring Kate Capshaw, and Rameau’s Niece (1993), which was also made into a movie (The Misadventures of Margaret), starring Parker Posey, along with Alice in Bed (1983), To the Bird House (1990), The Evolution of Jane (1999), She is Me (2003), and The New Yorkers (2006).  In addition to her novels she has written articles for The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, and The New York Times Book Review, among other publications. She grew up in Westport, CT and lives in New York City and Venice, California.
