Julie Andrews, one of the most recognized and beloved figures in entertainment, paid Fairfield a visit Thursday, in a special appearance at the Fairfield University Bookstore.

More than 200 individuals traveled to the bookstore to have Andrews sign a copy of the children's book she coauthored with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton. "The Very Fairy Princess Follows her Heart" is the latest in the mother-daughter duos series of "The Very Fairy Princess" books.

"The book is magical," James Fitzpatrick, assistant vice president at Fairfield University, said. "We at the university are delighted to host such a distinguished guest at our bookstore."

Fans purchased copies of the book in the days leading up to Andrews' visit. Buying the book in advance ensured approximately 200 devotees had "line tickets" for admission to meet Andrews and have her sign their copies. Her stop in Fairfield was one of many in a national book tour.
