Seen in Fairfield: Dustin Hoffman and Francois Girard

The Academy Award-winning actor who starred in "The Graduate" returns to a college campus, Fairfield University, for a special speaking engagement alongside the Canadian director.

In an exclusive appearance presented by Fairfield University and entitled “An Award-Winning Conversation,” Dustin Hoffman and Francois Girard discussed their careers in film, television, and theatre, and a new film being shot at Fairfield University.

The standing-room-only event, on Feb. 20, was free and attended by Fairfield University students, faculty, and staff. More than 100 tickets were also provided to residents of Fairfield, through a random drawing, in celebration of the 375th anniversary of the founding of the Town of Fairfield.

Opening remarks were offered by Fairfield University President, The Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J.  The evening’s moderator was Philip Eliasoph, Ph.D., Fairfield University professor of art history, with introductions by The Rev. Mark P. Scalese, S.J., Fairfield University associate professor of Visual & Performing Arts.
