We're Off to See the Wizard

Looking for something different to do this week with the kiddos? We've got a nice array of our top five fun things to do for kids of all ages.

You can feel it coming, can’t you? It’s almost here: the dreaded vacation week! Fortunately, there are lots of things to do around town, provided we don’t get another two feet of snow. Check out five of our faves here.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

The Wizard of Oz

Where/When: Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road; Thursday and Friday, Feb. 17 and 18, at 7 p.m.

Why Go: It’s a classic. North Stratfield School's Drama Club will present a musical production of “The Wizard of Oz.” Can’t wait to see the flying monkeys.

Pricing: $6 at the door

 

Winter Farmers’ Market

Where/When:  Greenfield Hill Grange, 1873 Hillside Road, Fairfield; Saturday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Hooray! The Fairfield Winter Farmers’ Market is open. Take the kids and let them pick out the veggies for tonight’s dinner. Talk about farms. Discuss the environment. Do your part.

Pricing: Free admission, but bring cash to stock up for the week.

 

Mad About Dad!

Where/When: Fairfield Public Library, Saturday, Feb. 19, 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: It’s Dad’s turn to take the kids out so Mom can finally get some peace and quiet. Oh, and the bonding, too. This is a great opp for Dad to hang one-on-one with the kids, ages 3-5.

Pricing: Free

 

Danny Magic

Where/When: Roger Ludlowe Middle School Gymnasium, Thursday, Feb. 24, 12:30-1:15 p.m.

Why Go: If you haven’t seen Danny Magic, you’re missing out. This is one funny dude. The kids love him. The parents love him. It’s one big giant magical lovefest.

Winterlights

Where/When: Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road, Tuesday, Feb. 22, 1 p.m.

Why go: Nothing says winter fun more than punching holes into recycled coffee cans to make a lantern. Kids in grades 3 and up will learn the history of tinsmithing and traditional design work. Call 203-259-1598 for more info.

Pricing: $8 members, $10 non-members.
