Venture to Caseus [Latin for Cheese] in New Haven

A trip to New Haven for some Delicious Cheese dishes

”When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?”

George Carlin.

For lunch on Saturday my family and I traveled to Caseus in New Haven (93 Whitney Avenue,www.caseusnewhaven.com) to go on a cheese adventure.

A quick shout-out to Mr. Sullivan (my Latin teacher), Caseus in Latin means cheese. When we arrived, we were guided down the windy path and down the stairs to a table next to the cheese shop.

We were greeted by a very nice waitress who told us the specials and then took our orders.

For our appetizers we ordered Poutine (creamy cheese curds, crispy pommes frites with salt and pepper sprinkled on top, tender pulled pork, spicy chilis and silky Velouté  gravy).

In addition to that we ordered a Mac and Cheese (Smooth Raclette Cheese, rich Gouda Cheese, smoky Comte Cheese, with toasted brioche bread crumbs on top and fresh mixed greens.

Finally for our last appetizers we ordered Onion Soup Gratin (rich French onion soup with spongy bread and fantastic caramelized onions), and Brussels Sprouts (lightly seasoned sprouts with a heavy amount of salt).

The appetizers were very delicious and they satisfied my cravings to the best of their ability.

For our entrées three of us ordered fish and chips (crisp, deep fried, beer battered succulent cod and juicy, fantastic, huge day boat scallops).

With the fish there was a towering mountain of fries (chips), that were doused in oil and we perfectly crisped. My mom ordered a Beet and Shaved Fennel salad with honey slathered grapefruit, refreshing local Mizuna, virgin olive oil, and local silky chèvre cheese.

For dessert we ordered a rich, smooth, chocolatey Chevre Brownie that was crisp on the outside and filled with creamy Chevre on the inside. It was served with a cool, refreshing glass of milk and light/airy whipped cream.

The food at Caseus was delicious and I would definitely recommend the dishes that we ordered. Caseus smelled awesome! The wafts of pungent  aging cheeses and creamy cheese curds flooded into my nostrils while I ate my delicious food. The value at Caseus was fabulous for the amazing food we obtained. The service was quite accommodating and our waitress was extremely helpful when explaining the meals. Overall Caseus is a great stop if you are in New Haven. I would recommend it to anyone with a cheese craving. I would rate it ZZZX-3 3/4 Z’s- Great!

Atticus, Ralph Arnone is next scheduled to appear in court on July 1st, at which point he isRead More expected to enter a plea. As an aside, one isn't supposed to go to bed and wake up still angry at the same thing, day in, day out, week in, week out, month in, month out... I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I care deeply about firefighters and I'm genuinely concerned about you. You were exposed to a lot of chemicals in your career. You may have some endocrine system damage or something causing an electrolyte disorder. This stuff starts out with things like joint pain and minor psychological implications but, it gets much, much worse. Get to the doc. Maybe you're just a spicy guy, maybe Ralph hurt you in some terrible way, or maybe you are sick and as a result, you'll be facing a much shortened a painful life. Honestly, I'm not trying to give you a hard time or pick a fight.

Well thanks for your concern Creeky. But at my age I cant say I have lived a shorten life. As forRead More chemicals...well as most of the posters here on this rag say, firemen do nothing 99.9% of the day so I guess the on chemical exposure would be to the big comfy leather chairs in the dayroom. Why do you care anyway Creeky? In your previous posts about me you said, don't feed to trolls. You are not honest Creeky. Take your fake concern and false "honesty" and waste it on someone else. Not trying to give you a hard time, those are your comments about me. Where did you get the info on Ralphy?

Atticus, review your own posts. It isn't trolling. It's a vendetta. If you think I'm dishonest,Read More fine. I'm not going to try to speak rationally with someone whom is irrational. Why do I care? Because I've seen how much care fireman are capable of, and how much they give of themselves. It's respect and karma. As far as where I got the info, it's publicly available. If you wanted my help in how to find it yourself, perhaps you shouldn't have attacked my character. You are on your own now.
