Marvelous Marseille!

A quick trip to France – in New York City.

Deja Brew: The feeling that you've had this coffee before.~Author Unknown.

Today my mom and I traveled to New York City to watch the Book of Mormon. On the way there, we stopped at Marseille (www.marseillenyc.com) 630 9th Avenue at 45th street to sample some French/Mediterranean Cuisine. When we arrived at the bustling Marseille, we noticed the traditional French Bistro decor (tile floors, smoky glass, and cafe chairs). We were seated at a small table in the middle of everything (my mom knocked into a waiter, spilling the drink he was carrying!).To start our meal I ordered a beautifully made Cappuccino  with a light, and frothy foam on top (shaped like a leaf).

When it was time to order, we told the waitress that we wanted: a delectable French Onion Soup with flavorful broth, soft, delicious caramelized onions, melted, gooey gruyere, and ALOT of bread that soaked up the goodness of the broth.

The French Onion Soup was fantastic besides the overwhelming amount of soft, warm bread! In addition we ordered a Nutella Croissant. The Nutella Croissant was crisp and buttery on the outside, and soft, warm, and pillowy on the inside! It was overflowing with delicious Nutella that made it that much better!

Last but not least we ordered a Croque Madame. The Croque Madame was no ordinary sandwich, this one was encrusted in greasy, crispy cheese. In addition to that, it had a delicious egg on top that had an oozing yellow yolk to dip the sandwich in. The sandwich was filled with fantastically juicy ham and another layer of soft cheese. All of this was in between two amazing pieces of toasty warm bread.

My mom ordered a Moroccan Omelet with crumbly Feta Cheese, tangy olives, juice filled peppers, and spicy Harissa (a hot sauce). On the side of the dish was yummy roasted potatoes, smothered in pesto.

To finish off our meal, we ordered an assortment of refreshing and palate cleansing sorbet (fig, apple cider, pear).

The food was wonderful I would definitely get the same things if I ever came back. The atmosphere of Marseille was modeled after an old French Bistro so it looked very inviting. The value of Marseille was very reasonable but a bit of a splurge. The service was fine, but nothing too great! Overall I would definitely go back! I would rate it ZZZZ- 4 Z's- Very Good.

The Book of Mormon was hilarious, I would recommend to anyone in need of a laugh.
