Last Saturday I traveled to Bodega in Fairfield CT (1700 Post Road, www.bodegatacobar.com). Bodega dishes out delicious refined Mexican Cuisine every day. When we arrived at Bodega we noticed the hectic environment and their interesting signage on the walls. We were seated at a small table in the middle of everything and got a great view of the whole restaurant.

When it was time to order our appetizers, we decided on hand slapped, creamy, smooth guacamole with crisp onions, and fresh juicy tomatoes. We also got the same silky guacamole but this one contained garlic infused chili crab. The crab was tender and delicious and the fabulous guacamole made the dish even better. In addition we ordered an Arepa (a puffy warm corn cake, over flowing with succulent hoisin glazed pork belly, and snappy green onions). Finally we ordered Empanada Champinones (a crispy fried outer layer, containing juice filled portabella mushrooms, and melted, oozing truffle cheese).

For our main meals we ordered, a Cubano Torta (amazingly succelent pulled pork, velvety Serrano crema, sharp Swiss cheese, and flavorful, tangy pickles). In addition to that we ordered two tacos (the burnt brisket taco and the Philly Cheese Steak taco). The burnt brisket taco had creamy queso chihuahua, and spicy chili brined pickles, while the Philly Cheese Steak one had smoky cheese, moist, mouth-watering steak, and fabulously caramelized peppers/onions.

My mom ordered the vegetarian plate: Blistered Brussels Sprouts , that had a nice char to them and were oozing with warm oil. These could have been the best sprouts I have ever had. The Brussels Sprouts were so good because of the secret ingredient of pineapple juice, that allowed a burn to form on them. In addition my mom’s plate contained crunchy, bright corn slaw that was very refreshing and cleansed the palate. Finally the plate contained the classic black beans and rice.

The food was delectable and I would definitely get the things that I got if I came back! The atmosphere at Bodega was classic Mexican with a modern twist. In addition to that Bodega was bustling with happy people enjoying their food. The value was fantastic for the amazing quality of food we obtained. The service was great as well. Our waitress was very accommodating and she even made some good recommendations for ordering! I would definitely return to Bodega in the near future. I would recommend it to anyone in need of a Mexican restaurant. JUST BE SURE TO COME EARLY, THE RESTAURANT IS VERY SMALL AND THE SEATS ARE TAKEN QUICKLY! I would rate it, ZZZZ-4 Z's- Yum!
