Thanksgiving Dinner, as a Guest, NEVER GO EMPTY HANDED

Gift Idea's for your Thanksgiving Dinner Host

Every year, when you're invited to Thanksgiving by kindly hosts, you have a decision to make. Whats an appropriate gift you can bring? should you keep to the theme of Thanksgiving in choosing a gift, and consider how much you're expected to pay for it.

If there will be other dinner guests who will bring gifts, you find yourself pondering that you shouldn't bring anything too expensive nor something too cheap. One way to help you decide would be, if you feel the question is appropriate, to call the host or hostess. Ask if there is something specific they'd want you to bring to enhance the decor or menu of the evening. Some suggestions may be worth considering.

1. Whether the host asks for them or not, cut flowers will always add to the Thanksgiving spirit. Mums, roses, sunflowers, daisies and other fall blooms of red, yellow and orange make a pleasing Thanksgiving Floral centerpiece.

2. Potted flowers and plants, such as a planter basket with 3 to 6 small plants in an appropriate container, or a potted Mum or Azalea will not only enhance the Thanksgiving night dinner scene, but will stay throughout the Holiday Season. This year with Thanksgiving very late you may also think about a poinsettia plant, which can be used through January.

3. A combination of gifts in an attractive basket or tray would be very welcome. If it is fresh fruit and other edibles, the various types can be cut and used as appetizers or later as after-dinner snacks.

4. High quality boxed candy is very appropriate as a Thanksgiving gift. The host or hostess can keep them as personal presents or offer them as part of the after-dinner display.

5. You can add a definite personal touch to your gift by bringing your own home-made cookies or cake. Additionally, if you have your own special recipe for home-made pumpkin pie, your Thanksgiving gift could be the culinary hit of the evening.

As an invited guest, your thoughtful and useful Thanksgiving Day gift to your dinner host and hostess will be very much appreciated. Please be sure that whatever your choice may be BUY LOCAL and support your local retailer this Holiday Season.
