The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Fairfield County, in effect until 11:30 a.m.
The warning states a storm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near New Canaan at 11:04 a.m. and is moving northeast at 25 mph.
The safest place to be in a tornado is a basement. The National Weather Service advises you take shelter immediately.
