Bridgeport Rescue Mission needs willing hands and giving hearts to spread the miracle of Christmas throughout coastal Fairfield County.
Here’s how you can ease the burdens and uplift the spirits of our homeless and hurting neighbors . . .
Give a Sleeping Bag We need hundreds of sleeping bags (adult size) to bring comfort and warmth to the homeless and working-poor of our community. Adults and kids alike will receive their very own sleeping bag at our Sleeping Bag Give-Away event on December 15.
Fill Bedtime Bags for Children Youngsters who attend the Sleeping Bag Give-Away will also receive Christmas gift bags filled with a bedtime book (we suggest “Three Trees”), a small stuffed animal, a children’s toothbrush and toothpaste, and a washcloth and mild soap.
Fill Backpacks of Love Our shelter guests will truly appreciate travel-size toiletries, including toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, non-alcohol mouthwash; bath towel and washcloth; brush and comb, winter hat, scarf and gloves, warm socks (new pair); underwear (for men, new, sizes M-2X).
