Fairfield's first-ever Restaurant Week will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 14, and not only are 34 of the town's restaurants participating, but retailers are joining in to celebrate.
The town partnered with a number of businesses, community groups, and organizations to put on an array of cultural events and other activities during Restaurant Week (which will run through Saturday, Oct. 20).
"This weeklong event is another way the town can show its support for our local businesses, help our local economy and provide people with an enjoyable experience," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said. "We encourage residents and visitors alike to join us in this special town event.”

Local retailers will be holding special shopping events and discounts to add to the atmosphere of the week, which Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart likened to "a 'night out' experience."
Participating retailers include: Fairfield University Bookstore, Apricot Lane, the Fairfield Museum and History Center, The Stand Juice Company, La Moda Fashions, Island Outfitters, Hazel Daze, Vintage Garden, Fairfield Theatre Company, Chloe’s Closet, Coreen’s Bridge Floral Shop, Cargo Bay, Capri Clothing, Las Vetas Lounge, The Label Exchange, Catch a Healthy Habit Cafe, and Sweet Rexie's.
The public can use Restaurant Week passports while shopping at one of the above businesses to earn more stamps (in addition to getting stamps from restaurants). Passport holders who collect two or more stamps can enter a drawing at the end of the week. The grand prize is a night's stay at the Delamar Hotel in Southport. About a dozen other businesses and organizations in town have also offered prizes.
Passport holders who wish to enter the drawing need to fill out information in the document and drop it off into designated receptacles at participating restaurants, Old Town Hall, Sullivan Independence Hall, the main library, Fairfield Woods Branch Library, the Fairfield University Bookstore, Fairfield Theatre Company, and the Bank of Fairfield (Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike locations). One passport may be entered per household. Winners will be notified by email, according to a release from the First Selectman's Office.
The town has also partnered with numerous agencies and organizations to put on cultural events and activities during Restaurant Week. Those partners include the Fairfield Public Library, Fairfield Theatre Company, the Fairfield Museum and History Center, the Fairfield University Bookstore, the and Fairfield and Sacred Heart universities.

As for the main draw of Restaurant Week -- eateries will offer $10 - $15 prix fixe lunch menus and $20 - $30 dinner prices and other discounts. Most of the restaurant's prix fixe menus are posted on the Restaurant Week website.
