Hemlock Hardware Owner Talks Hurricane Preparedness

The coastline socked by Superstorm Sandy in October is about to get a taste of the 2013 hurricane season, as Tropical Storm Andrea barrels up the East Coast.

Patch stopped by Hemlock Hardware Thursday to talk hurricane preparedness. Get ahead of the season by stocking up on the items owner Scott Pesavento suggests:

"Batteries. Flashlights. Lanterns," Pesavento said. "It doesn't deviate much from that."

Hemlock Hardware sold 10,000 packs of batteries during Sandy.

He also recommends stocking up on masking tape, tarps, and rope.

For potential flooding, consider getting a pump, shop vac, and/or mops.

If you're willing to make the investment, it's never too early in the season to get a generator.
