Rawley's Dishes Up 'the Works' for National Hot Dog Day

Connecticut is THE state for hot dogs -- and the guys at Rawley's Drive-In in Fairfield would know.

Rawley's hot dogs were named the best in America by Examiner.com travel writers Wayne and Judy Bayliff last year.

Four other Connecticut hot dog staples -- including Super Duper Weenie on Black Rock Turnpike -- were runners up.

"Connecticut is apparently the hot dog mecca," Rawley's employee Bill said.

So, on this Tuesday, National Hot Dog Day 2013, Patch had to ask -- what's the most popular menu item at Rawley's?

"Hot dog with the works," according to Bill.

"The works" -- pictured -- means a hot dog buried under mustard, relish, bacon, and sauerkraut.

Rawley's menu includes chili dogs, chili cheese dogs, plain hot dogs, and non-hot dog items -- burgers, chicken strips, Philly cheese steak, soup, fries, tuna melts, onion rings, and more.
