Visions for Vacancies: Former Fairfield Edge Fitness Club

What would you like to see take the gym's place?

Bike store and maintenance shop; pharmacy; a kosher grocery store – those were ideas that came out of the for the former Stratfield market site.

The former IGA market’s site measures 9,740 square feet. This installment of Visions for Vacancies focuses on a site across town and potentially more than twice the size of the market.

The former Edge fitness club building at 665 Commerce Drive is up for lease by RHYS, a commercial real estate firm. According to the firm’s website, the lot actually houses two buildings and thus can be leased as either a 6,000 square-foot building or a combined 28,400 square foot building.

The rent is listed at $18 per square foot per year. The lot holds 200 parking spaces.

What would you like to see in this space?

Indoor/outdoor full size sporting complex for soccer and basketball. Utilized by town and surrounding town premier leagues . Sponsor tri-state soccer tournaments, especially with excellent train access and highway access!!!

A Stratfield Market would be nice -- or better yet a Walgreens.

I agree with two ideas....either a sporting goods store like Dick's. We don't have a sporting goods store any longer...Olympia Sports is in Westport, but it is small. Sports Authority is in Norwalk and Milford...and Dick's is in Milford and Danbury. I also like the idea of a arts and crafts store like a Michael's or A.C. Moore. What about a Christmas Tree Shop! You know...I have been thinking about the old Stratfield Market location...since Patrick Baker & Sons left Fairfield...it has been tough for many of us to find religious items for sacramental events like First Holy Communion and Confirmation. I think a store like Patrick Baker & Sons would be a good idea in a small location!

We're getting a lot of feedback on Facebook - here's a bit of that conversation: "How about an indoor farmer's market? What I don't want to see is another bank." -- Jill Kovacs "Hooters?" -- Richard Moore "A huge sports bar with giant tvs , pop a shot games etc.. There is not one great place to watch sports.. There a few that are ok." -- Christopher Jon Gombos "A macked out homeless shelter and job training specialists." -- Jaime Harrington "Another CVS I hope!" -- Patrick Lucas "Loving the idea of an indoor farmer's market. Definitely NO banks, and NO drugstores...our town has plenty of those! Also a job training center is a good one..." -- Jennifer Hochberg "How about all the things that are missing from the north east? Like first east coast In-n-Out Burger, A Chick Fil A and a place that makes a good Chicago stuffed pizza!!!...& while you are at it, lets put a Nordstrom in to replace SYMS." -- Robert Davis "A pool!!!" -- Alison Mortimer "RUBY's 3" -- Chris van Wilgen http://www.facebook.com/FairfieldPatch

There are two types of fat that you have in your abdominal area. The first type that covers up your abs from being visible is called subcutaneous fat and lies directly beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscles. http://greatestviews.com/the-diet-solution-program-does-it-really-work/
