Leaders and Experts Gather at Green Market Exposition to Share Innovative Ideas and Technology

Over the last four years, the GME has educated over 1,000 people and provided over 25 panel discussions on relevant topics.

People are taking sustainability to the next level. At the Green Market Exposition, an annual event that celebrates true progress, experts and leaders from throughout the region, provided insight and relevent information on Connecticut's green infrastructure, including microgrids, sustainable mainstream product lines, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and real green jobs.

Mayor Finch, GME keynote speaker, provided highlights of the progress Bridgeport continues to make in becoming more economically and environmentally proficient. Mayor Finch commented, “The Green Market Exposition is bringing together stakeholders and experts to share their passion and knowledge about job creation, green businesses, healthier foods and much more. We’re proud to host the Exposition and these important discussions in Bridgeport, where we’re working very hard and implementing innovative strategies to be the greenest City in the region.” 

Over 50 businesses, organizations, sustainability experts and leaders gathered at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center for the 4th Annual Green Market Exposition to particiapte as exhibitors and panelists. Innovative solutions to urban challenges that will revitalize our economy, and strengthen our communities were presented and discussed by key leaders and community members.

Exhibits, complimentary refreshments and networking began at 9:00am. Featured guests included Robert Araujo, Manager Sustainability and EHS Programs, Sikorsky Aircraft; Joe Carbone, CEO, The WorkPlace; Floyd Lapp, Ph.D., Executive Director, SWRPA; Bill Kinneary, President, North American Power and Paul Timpanelli, CEO & President of Bridgeport Regional Business Council.

The Green Market Exposition Creates Awareness and Brings Together Necessary Elements Needed To Create and Support Sustainable Infrastructures.

Over the last four years, the GME has offered green job training/green job opportunities, relevant information on going green and saving money for both businesses and consumers, environmental stewardship, green technology, and local/sustainable food systems. People come away from the event with hope of creating a better Connecticut, as well as an understanding of the developing green infrastructure and evolving green market economy that is taking place throughout Fairfield County, the state and the country. With a strong focus on what citizens and businesses can do to take initiative and be part of the solution, the GME continues to provide community members, businesses and leaders with information and resources to make well-informed, conscious decisions that will lead to more livable communities. Since the co-founders Daphne Dixon and Remy Chevalier first held the Green Market Exposiiton in 2009 at the Barnum Museum, the GME has provided over 25 panels, at no charge to the public, has promoted over 150 businesses and organzizations and provided networking and education to over 1,000 people.
