New Global Network for Sustainability Knowledge and Cooperation

The United Nations Environment Program has launched a new on-line hub and network on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP): the Global SCP Clearinghouse which is online at www.scpclearinghouse.org. This site could prove useful to business, non-profits, activists and citizens.

Increasing environmental degradation and rising prices for many raw materials indicates that a systemic transformation is needed to move towards resource efficient use that allow for productive and sustainable practices that can provide us an equal or higher quality of life. The Global SCP Clearinghouse provides opportunities to share and find information on SCP around the world (initiatives, news, events, publications, etc.), build networks, identify partners, and strengthen capacities. Individuals and organizations can participate. The growing network already has 800 members representing 500 organizations in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The Global SCP Clearinghouse allows you to:
 • Share and find information and initiatives on SCP – policies, projects, campaigns, etc. - with a worldwide SCP database, news and events;
 • Browse regional and thematic communities of practice dedicated to key SCP areas or sectors, from sustainable lifestyles to product sustainability information, sustainable food systems or sustainable tourism;
 • Build networks and identify partners with an interactive marketplace for SCP cooperation, working groups and forums;
 • Strengthen capacities and register as an expert / resource person with a dedicated directory, E-library and other tools included in MySCP, the members’ personal space on the platform.

You can sign up at www.scpclearinghouse.org
