Celebrated war reporter Anderson Cooper has revealed that he is gay and proud of it, as stated in a letter to Andrew Sullivan published in The Daily Beast today.
“’The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,’” wrote Cooper in the email.
Cooper said that he thought that a true journalist should tell the stories of others, not their own, he said in the letter.
However, Cooper said in the email that recent events, including bullying and sexual discrimination, had made him ponder going public with his sexuality, although he hoped that the revelation would not impact his job as a reporter or cause more inquiry into his private life.
Sullivan, a political commenter and reporter is an openly gay conservative.
