Books, Drama and Earth Day

Five great events for your family to be part of this week in Fairfield, including the town's Earth Day celebration.

Where/When: Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave. in Fairfield's Southport neighborhood

Thursday, April 28, 6 to 7 p.m.

Why Go: Kids in grades 6 and up can take part in the library's Teen Book Club, which will discuss Behemoth by Scott Westerfel, the second installment of the Leviathan triology. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Where/When: Tasti D-Lite, 1201 Kings Highway East in Fairfield

 Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1

Why Go: Get a free Tasti D-Lite small cup or cone on Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees can register to win several prizes: a grand prize of a “Year of Free Tasti,” plus a free office party for 20, a kid’s birthday party for 10, Bridgeport Bluefish baseball tickets, and prizes provided by The Little Gym, The Edge Fitness Club, Massage Envy, Greenhouse Grill, Honest Tea, Carabiner’s Indoor Climbing, Hot Mama Jewelry, Momentum Fitness, Yellow Moon Toy Company, Krit-it Clothing for Kids, Minette & Rook and Kuka. There will also be a face painter on Saturday, and a ceremonial ribbon cutting will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Pricing: F-R-E-E! Tasti door prizes will be given out throughout the weekend.

Why Go: Fairfield Ludlowe High School's Drama Club will Rodgers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA! for three performances on Friday at 8 p.m., and on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Ludlowe's auditorium.

Where/When: Fairfield Warde High School, 755 Melville Ave., Fairfield

Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Fairfield’s Earth Day Committee (FEDC) Earth Day will feature an array of exhibitors from local residents and organizations to businesses that are leading and supporting green initiatives, which are laying the ground work and creating a green infrastructure in Fairfield. There will be family entertainment throughout the day featuring music and magic.

Pricing: Entrance is free

 

Where/When:  at Fairfield University, 1073 North Benson Road in Fairfield

Sunday, May 1, 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.

Why Go: Take the kids to check out this new revue featuring mini-musicals based on some of the bestselling children's books including: Fancy Nancy, Duck for President, Babymouse: The Musical, I Have to Go!, Leonardo, the Terrible Monster and Pirates Don't Change Diapers. Grades K-4.
