Do You Know This St. Bernard?

Fairfield Police Ask For Help in Locating Owner of Dog Found Roaming on Stratfield Road in Fairfield Wednesday Night

Fairfield Police are asking for the public's help in finding the owner of a St. Bernard found roaming on Stratfield Road in Fairfield Wednesday night.

Police Sgt. Sue Lussier, a department spokesman, said a tipster called police around 7 p.m. to report the dog and that officers found him on Stratfield Road by Our Lady of the Assumption Church. The Animal Control Department then picked the dog up and are holding it at the Animal Control Shelter on One Rod Highway, police said.

Lussier said the owner of the dog could be from outside Fairfield because the area of town where he was located is near Bridgeport and not far from Easton.

Animal Control Officer Paul Miller said the dog appeared to be in reasonably good shape. "It appears there is nothing significant that is wrong with the dog at this time. There's no visible signs of injuries," he said.

Lussier said, "If anyone knows who owns this dog or where it belongs, please contact Animal Control."

"We want to reunite this dog with its owner," Lussier added.

The phone number at the Animal Control Department is 203-254-4857.
