Fairfield Animal Control Seeks Owner of Dog Accused of Biting Woman

The incident occurred around noon on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Fairfield Animal Control officials are seeking the owner of a black Labrador mix accused of biting a woman earlier this month.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Dec. 22, around noon, according to a release from Animal Control. The complainant said she was walking on Penfield Beach, near Fairfield Beach Club, when the black Lab mix ran up to her, unleashed. The dog's owner -- a Caucasian woman in her 40s or 50s, wearing sunglasses, a black puffer jacket, and a white knit hat -- called the dog "Pippa."

The owner did not detain the dog before it jumped on the complainant and bit at her arms, according to the release.

The complainant did not realize she had been bitten until she found three puncture wounds on her arm later that day. According to Animal Control, the victim had to leave town and did not report the bite until the following day.

Officials have been unable to find a dog license record of a black Lab mix called "Pippa" and would like to locate the dog owner to verify that "Pippa" is up-to-date with all vaccines and to help victim avoid undergoing post-exposure rabies shots.
