  • Talking About Books - "The Iliad" with Dr. Mark Schenker: 7 p.m., Fairfield Public Library, free. "Dr. Schenker will offer a four-session series on The Iliad by Homer in the Robert Fagles translation (Penguin, 1990).  He will consider the poem as a literary experience, both in the contemporary context of our reading it -- it remains a powerful anti-war poem -- and in the context of ancient Greek culture."
  • NRBQ: 7 p.m., Fairfield Theatre Company, $35. "NRBQ (the New Rhythm and Blues Quartet) have amassed a fanatical cult following over more than two decades of recording and touring with their incredibly versatile eclecticism; their music might veer from country to rockabilly to pop to bar-band R&B to blues to free jazz."
