Fairfield Motorist Injured After Car Strikes I-95 Bridge

Accident Remains Under Investigation by Fairfield Police

An 18-year-old Fairfield motorist was injured Thursday after his car struck an Interstate 95 bridge by Coolidge Street in Fairfield.

Jose Correa, of Wakeman Road, was taken by AMR Ambulance Co. to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said Correa was driving west on Rutland Avenue about 3:08 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a right turn onto Coolidge Street, went off the road and struck a United Illuminating pole. He continued south on Coolidge Street, out of control, left the road again and struck the I-95 bridge, police said.

Correa was the only occupant of the car, police said.

A spokesman at St. Vincent's Medical Center said Friday that Correa had been treated and released.
