Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department Begins Preparations for Hurricane Irene

Swimming buoys have been pulled from all town beaches.

The Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday morning that it has begun preparations in anticipation of Hurricane Irene.

The swimming buoys at all town beaches, including , , , , and , have been pulled from the water due to the tides and the surf. Signs have been posted closing the swimming areas to swimmers.

"We encourage residents to take this opportunity to prepare by protecting their property and personal belongings, especially in the coastal areas," CPRP Recreation Coodinator Anthony R. Calabrese wrote in a statement.
