Fairfield's Nolan Paige, a rising senior at the Hopkins School in New Haven, is competing this week at the USTA New England junior section championships in the U-18 division at the Yale courts.
According to Tennis Recruiting Network, Paige, who also plays on the Hopkins' basketball team, is ranked No. 1 in New England and 14th nationally in his age group.

Paige is proving it this week as he advanced to the finals Wednesday with a hard-fought 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7) victory over No.6 seed William Spector of Weston, Mass.
In the final, he will take on recent Staples' graduate Danny Hirschberg, who recently won the state Open title and his second straight Class LL championship.

Hirschberg reached the final by rallying for a 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (3) win over top seed Alexander Steinroeder of Concord, Mass. Paige is the No. 2 seed and Hirschberg is seeded seventh.
In the girls U-16 division, Fairfield's Ellyse Hamlin also reached the final by upetting top seed Kimmy Guerin of Weston, 6-3, 7-6 (6). In the final she will take on No. 2 seed Nicole Frenkel of Winchester, Mass.
Both matches are set for Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Yale University courts.
In action in the District Two 12-year-old Little League tournament on Wednesday, Trumbull National defeated Stratford 11-0 and Easton downed Park City, 6-2.
In Thursday's only game, Trumbull American takes on North End at Bridgeport's Blackham Field (5:30 p.m.). Here are the standings through Wednesday (top two in each group advance to double elimination playoffs):
