Fairfield to Hold Community Vigil Tonight at 5 on Sherman Green

'It is important that the community have the opportunity to come together as a whole to grieve' for the families, victims, and first responders of Newtown, town officials stated.

A town-wide vigil to support the victims of Friday's Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and their families is scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. on Sherman Green.

Community and spiritual leaders have been invited to help lead the vigil, according to the town of Fairfield's Facebook page.

In addition to the vigil's announcements, town leaders gave the following statement:

"The Board of Selectmen understands that it is important that the community have the opportunity to come together as a whole to grieve, as well as to support the survivors of the tragedy and our own first responders who were there in Newtown [Friday]."

Its wonderful to see that Fairfielders care about their neighbors. The Fairlfield County community is actually a small community linked by families, businesses and in so many other ways. We all grieve together.
