Gusts Could Hit 60 MPH in Late Afternoon and Evening; Flood Advisory in Effect

National Weather Service Issues High Wind Warning and Flood Advisory for Fairfield

Gusts could hit 60 mph late Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service, which posted a high wind warning and flood advisory for Fairfield.

The high wind warning, in effect until 11 p.m. Friday, says localized gusts could exceed 60 mph, especially in the afternoon and early evening. The high winds have the potential to bring down trees and power lines, and residents should move light-weight objects that are outdoors, such as deck furniture or trash cans, indoors or secure them outside, according to the warning.

The NWS also advises motorists to use "extreme caution," especially if they are in "high-profile vehicles" crossing bridges and overpasses.

The NWS' forecast, updated at 12:25 p.m., predicts rainfall totals Friday afternoon between one-tenth and a quarter of an inch, though more rain is possible if a thunderstorm moves through.
