NWS Issues Winter Weather Advisory For Tuesday
Morning rush could be hazardous, NWS says. Icy rain and more snow on top of already packed roofs and gutters could threaten homes.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m Tuesday. The advisory is in effect for southern Connecticut, southeast New York and northeast New Jersey.
The NWS said snow is expected to develop in Fairfield mainly after 3 a.m. Tuesday, then change to rain, snow and freezing rain between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesday. Rain is predicted after noon on Tuesday.
Rush hour travel could be hazardous, according to the NWS.

An accumulation of two inches of snow is possible before the precipatation changes to a wintry mix.
On Monday, the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, and the Department of Public Safety Division of Fire, Emergency and Building Services issued a warning about the added weight the predicted precipitation will bring to roofs and decks already covered by heavy snow pack.

Also, residents should be aware that water can seep into homes due to damming in ice-filled gutters. As snow on a roof melts, it has nowhere to go when gutters are frozen solid. Therefore, water seeps under the eaves and finds its way into a house.
