Police Search for Motorist Who Struck 17-Year-Old on Black Rock Turnpike

Stefano's Employee Left Work Saturday Night and Was Struck From Behind; Listed in Serious Condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Police Say

Police are looking for a motorist who struck a 17-year-old girl after she left work at Stefano's Restaurant on Tunxis Hill Cutoff in Fairfield, vaulting her out of her shoes and into a snowbank.

The girl, whose identity was not released, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was in serious condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport after she was struck from behind Saturday night on Black Rock Turnpike, police said.

Police said a description of the motor vehicle that struck the girl about 8:08 p.m. was not available and that the incident remains under investigation by the Fairfield Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit.

Police said the girl walked back to the restaurant after she was hit and did not remember what happened.

Police Officer Robert Chaisson, a senior accident investigator, reviewed the scene for evidence, talked to nearby business owners and will follow up with local auto body repair shops, police said.
