The severe thunderstorm warning from earlier this afternoon has expired. The National Weather Service's severe thunderstorm watch for Fairfield County remains in effect until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County, in effect until 2:30 p.m.
The service's doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph near Mount Kisco, N.Y. It is moving east at 25 mph.
"This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds and deadly cloud-to-ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows," the warning states.
A severe thunderstorm watch will remain in effect until 9 p.m. Monday for southern Connecticut and southeast New York.
